Freelance Relationship Management
Working with a freelancer can be tricky. There’s usually less structure and systems available to you (as the client), and communication can quickly become frustrating.
If you’re dealing with an overseas freelancer, language barriers are most common. Even minor things like understanding colloquialism can build up and mount to difficulties. In contrast a local freelancer may have no language issues but have difficulty with timing and delivery of your project.
With an agency you can expect to be assigned to a project manager or account manger that will guide you through the processes – sometimes the need for a skilled mediator is only realised when they’re absent.
I’ve much experience with working and managing freelancers locally as well as overseas and can assist in the following areas:
- General consultation (What to look for in a reliable freelancer, the fair hourly rate for the work requested etc)
- Communication and expectation management
- Delivery processes and workflow management
- Quality control
- Damage control / relationship management
If you’re about to embark on a freelance path but are unsure of where to begin, ill be happy to talk you through the best step forward.
