3 ways to maximise return on effort (ROE)

Posted on April 25, 2017

Many online platforms that supplement your brand are available free of charge. e.g. social media channels (FB, Twitter LinkedIN), blogs (blogspot, WordPress) and newsletter mailouts (mailchimp, campaign monitor).

The common currency in all of the above is the effort (or time) required to maintain and keep them all updated, lest you appear to be behind the ball.

There’s no such thing as free effort unless you don’t place any value on your time.
Here are 3 things that aid with maximum efficiency when putting in the efforts to promote your business:

  1. Don’t believe the hype.
Avoid jumping on the band wagon of new & shiny systems and platforms, do your research first. Just because something new is on the scene it doesn’t mean you need it. Take Snapchat for example – it’s a great platform for a retail brand building a following, however not so fitting for an accountant or pharmacy.
  2. Think content vs audience
When content ideas come to mind always ask “Is it serving my target audience?” if not, don’t waste anymore time and move on. Simple!
  3. Consistency is key
It’s always better to consistently update your audience once a week every week rather than bombarding their feed once a month. Think about how the audience will receive it – the really helpful information can get lost if there’s too many posts in a short amount of time.

This post is an encouragement to think more before acting so every bit of effort spent counts and benefits your business to go further.
